James Vaughn was a child prodigy musician, who started playing the Sunset Strip at age 14. He has played before large audiences, opening for bands such as Small Faces, Yes, Peter Frampton, and Gary Wright. He has played gigs with Warren Zevon, Billy Squier and Little River Band, and many others, and has recently recorded two solo albums.

James Vaughn is recognized for his unique perspective of style and form. His creations, from elements of the Earth, reflect an intuitive talent that knows no boundaries and encompasses all aspects of design. Born in Southern California, Vaughn was greatly influenced by his father, a successful metal fabricator and outdoorsman. He studied at the Fine Arts Center of El Camino College, and in 1990, studied for six months in Southern France. His extensive experience in bronzework encompasses design, molding, donning the fireproof suit to pour the bronze himself and selecting the specific chemicals to produce the perfect patinas.

James’ work appears in homes across the world, including, La Jolla, Aspen, Dallas, Beverly Hills, San Francisco and Spain. His work has been featured in Los Angeles Magazine, January 1992, page 29, “The Reagan Library Annex.” His work has been exhibited in Geo-Art’e in Santa Monica, The Happening Gallery in Marina Del Rey and Byrne Getz Gallery in Aspen, CO. In Colorado’s 1995 Steamboat Springs Art Show, he was awarded an Honorable mention for “Spirit Won,” a bronze and wood abstract inspired by his love for Africa. In 2019-2020, James’ art was exhibited in one of the largest galleries in Laguna Beach, Forest & Ocean Gallery. In late 2024 his artwork was on display at Rae Harrell Gallery, in Palm Springs, CA.

Creating art by fusing the natural elements is the way I express my passion for life and the world around me.
